Instructions:

  1. Click on RXNav.
  2. Make sure the drop down option on the search bar is on “String”.
  3. Enter the drug you’re searching for in the search bar.
  4. On the Views tab on the side bar, select “Table”
  5. Copy and Paste into an Excel Spreadsheet and save as a rtf.

Converting RXCUIs to NDCs

  1. You will need to download the 7zip program: https://www.7-zip.org/download.html.
  2. Copy and paste the RXcui codes into notepad.
    1. Save as a txt file.
  3. Open: https://rxnav.nlm.nih.gov/
    1. Click on RXmix.
    2. Under the “BUILD” section, select the function “getNDCs” and click “Add to Workflow”.
    3. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the side tab that says “Batch”
    4. Next, click “Click to load an Input File” and select the txt file you previously saved.
    5. Enter your email address in the “Email” box.
    6. Select the Output Format to be “TEXT”.
    7. Click “Submit Batch”.
  4. You will receive 2 emails. The second should contain a link to download the file, click the link.
    1. Save the file as a GZ file.
  5. Right click over saved GZ file. Scroll over “7zip”.
    1. Click “Extract Files”. Select a location like your desktop.
    2. Open the folder and right click only file. Scroll over 7zip and select “Extract Here”.
    3. Open the folder and then open the text file.
    4. Copy and paste information into an excel spreadsheet.
