OneFlorida Researchers Offer Free, Peer-led Workshops on Team Science

OneFlorida has teamed with Boston University and the University of Vermont Coordinator Research Professionals networks to offer a series of free, online workshops for clinicians, scientists and research coordinators on how to conduct excellent team science.

The workshops are based on a framework of core professional skills required for researchers participating in team science developed by the Multi-Regional Clinical Trials (MRCT) Center of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard University in Boston. This nonprofit research and policy center is committed to providing researchers with guidance and tools to ensure the professional competency of all members of a research team.

The MRCT Center convened an international joint task force of investigators, educators and clinical research professionals to develop a framework of eight competency domains to align clinical researchers worldwide around a single, comprehensive set of competencies for the profession. The Joint Task Force worked to incorporate the priorities and necessities of organizations across the clinical research community in order to make the framework as inclusive as possible.

Ten OneFlorida staff members will offer workshops in the monthly series, which began in October and runs through April 2020. Topics planned include recruitment (Nov. 2019), protocol writing (Jan. 2020), leadership/participation in multi-site research (Feb. 2020), regulatory documentation and file management (March 2020), and managing conflict in research teams (May 2020). All workshops meet the requirement for ACRP and SoCRA continuing education credit. Registration is required.
