Dr. Carek recognized by AAFP for career contributions to family medicine education

Peter Carek, M.D., was selected as the recipient of the 2019 Thomas W. Johnson Award for Career Contributions to Family Medicine Education by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). The award, the highest honor presented by the AAFP, recognizes outstanding contributions to family medicine education in undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education spheres.

Carek currently serves as professor and chair of UF Health’s department of community health and family medicine and is a member of the OneFlorida Executive Committee. Over the years, he has served as chair of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Review Committee for Family Medicine, the Sports Medicine Milestone Working Group, and the Council of Review Committee Chairs.
